David Benioff (born September 25, 1970) is an American novelist, screenwriter, television producer, film producer, and television director. He was born in New York City and holds citizenship in the United States. He is also known as a teacher, actor, journalist, and showrunner.
Benioff received his education from Dartmouth College, University of California Irvine, Trinity College Dublin, and Collegiate School (New York City). His father is Stephen Friedman, a former member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.
He is best known as the creator of the popular television series Game of Thrones, and has directed episodes such as "Walk of Punishment" and "The Iron Throne".
