DearS, also known as ディアーズ (Diāzu) in Japan, is a creative work that falls under multiple genres, including science fiction, romantic comedy, ecchi, and harem. It was created by the author Peach-Pit and was published by MediaWorks and Tokyopop. The series originated in Japan and is part of the anime, manga, and shōnen manga industries.
The DearS story was first published on October 20, 2001, and was discontinued on May 11, 2005. The official ディアーズ manga was also published in Dengeki Comic Gao, a Japanese publisher.
In addition to its manga release, DearS was made into an anime series that was directed by Iku Suzuki and featured music by Tomoki Hasegawa. The anime first launched on July 10, 2004 and had its latest release on September 26, 2004.
Discotek Media holds the licensing rights for DearS and the series is available on the PlayStation 2 as a platform. DearS competes with other well-known manga titles, such as Barakamon, Maid Sama!, and Honey and Clover, among others.
The author, Takao Yoshioka, created the original story, which is based in Japan.
