Air Force requirements to hold critical targets at risk and to operate in A2/AD environments pose significant challenges are driving sensor research and development. The problem is that as sensors get better, they generate more data and demand faster, more complex processing. Developers have successfully focused on improving laser source and receiver performance, leaving data storage and embedded processing as a problem for later. The program will develop an integrated SAL/SAR scalable real-time recorder/processor implemented on 6U VPX cards suitable for use in AgilePod or similar flight test vehicles. The design is based on open systems architecture and COARPS. Phase I includes systems engineering and trade space analyses, performance modeling, and preliminary system design.
