Derek Taunt (born November 16, 1917, and died July 15, 2004) was a mathematician who played a role in breaking ciphers during World War II. He was educated at Enfield Grammar School, Jesus College, Cambridge, and the University of Cambridge. Taunt's doctoral advisor was Philip Hall, and he was the doctoral supervisor for mathematician Roger Carter.
