The original Czech brand Dermacol has been cherishing female beauty for over half a century. The first high-coverage foundation in the world was developed in Dermacol’s Czech laboratory. It began being used by Hollywood in the 1960s, and ever since, Dermacol has been synonymous with perfect skin make-up, not only in the Czech Republic.

The history of the brand Dermacol

In 1958, the Institute of Medical Cosmetology began its activity in Prague, which was able to combine seemingly incompatible cosmetology, corrective cosmetology and aesthetic surgery. One of his first employees is Olga Knoblokhova.

The institute gave Olga the opportunity to take cosmetology courses and practice in cosmetology, both in the Czech Republic itself and in many foreign countries. Soon she began to train cosmetologists herself for the Institute of Cosmetology and other related organizations. The active cosmetology work of Olga Knoblokhova led to the appearance of Dermacol Make-up Cover and trademark registration.

Frequent visitors to the cosmetologist's office were girls and women who were worried about acne, freckles, age spots and flaming nevus. The question of a remedy that could hide imperfections on the face, allowing the skin to breathe, arose sharply in 1965. It was then that a mother came to Olga with a child whose face was struck by a flaming nevus and white pigment spots. The appearance of the child greatly upset the dermatologist, she thought about inventing a new remedy.

Olga turned to Boblik, an engineer who was developing makeup for the Barrandov film studio. Trials and testing continued throughout the year until the clinically tested Dermacol Make-up Cover foundation was developed in 1966.

The tool was a unique cream of its kind with a high coverage density in ten shades, capable of hiding almost all possible imperfections on the face in the form of freckles, pigmentation or skin diseases.

The name of the brand was not chosen by chance - the product was applied to the skin (derma) and set the right tone for it, i.e., colored it (col, short for color). Hence the name Dermacol. It has taken root so much that it has become a household name for all tonal foundations.

In 1967, a congress of dermatology was held in Slovakia, where Olga demonstrated what the novelty was capable of. A 20-year-old medical student "marked" with a flaming nevus was invited as a model. After Olga applied foundation to the stain, the girl could not hold back her tears of delight when she saw her reflection in the mirror. Since then, the ancestor of the brand has been called "Lady Dermacol".

In 1969, many Hollywood film studios acquired a license to produce Dermacol Make-up Cover. From now on, the product has officially received the status of "Hollywood Makeup". From that moment on, many movie stars began to hide their flaws under the tonal basis of the same name.

A year later, two novelties appear - Lady Cream and Princess Cream, which remain relevant today.

Meanwhile, the range of Dermacol is gradually expanding and in 1972 compact eyeshadows are produced.

In 1991, the brand separated from the Barrandov film studio, which until 2002 produced Dermacol branded cosmetics.

In 1996, the company sets off to conquer the countries of the Middle East. The residents of Jordan were the first to appreciate the benefits of Dermacol cosmetics.

In 2002, Vladimir Komar became the head of the company.

In 2006, the production facilities of TM are transferred to the Czech city of Brno. The company has 150 employees. In addition to traditional cosmetics, the factory is tirelessly developing new formulas that preserve youth and beauty.

Since 2010, the unsurpassed properties of Dermacol Make-up Cover have been revealed to the people of Asia. First, cosmetics goes to conquer South Korea, and then Vietnam, Taiwan and China. In 2012, the brand's products break into the African continent, and in 2015 into South America.

In 2014, the first Dermacol mono-brand store opens in Prague, presenting a wide range of makeup cosmetics.

In 2016, the company celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. By its 50th anniversary, the brand made a wonderful gift for itself - a successful expansion into the American market.
