The university was founded on March 16, 1966 as the Dnepropetrovsk special secondary school of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. In 1992, it was reorganized into the Dnepropetrovsk Police School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. On September 1, 1997, the police school was transformed into a higher educational institution - the Dnepropetrovsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In 2001, on the basis of the institute, the Law Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was established, which in 2005 was reorganized into the Dnepropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. Today the university is a higher educational institution of the IVth level of accreditation, a powerful scientific and educational complex of the Dnieper region and Ukraine. In 2016, Dnepropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs was recognized as the best educational institution in the region in the field of law.
Structure:
More than 10 thousand cadets, listeners and students study at the university, acquire professional training and improve their skills in the specialties "Law", "Law enforcement" and "Management". Every year, the university accepts about 1,800 people for training, who, after graduating from an educational institution, receive state diplomas of the educational qualification levels "bachelor" and "master".
The main base of the university in Dnipro includes the following faculties:
faculty of training specialists for criminal police units;
Faculty of training specialists for units of preventive activities;
faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation bodies;
Faculty of Economic and Legal Security;
Faculty of Law;
faculty of socio-psychological education and management.
