EMusic has developed a musical platform for the purpose of users finding, downloading, and owning music. The company was founded by Bob Kohn and Gene Hoffman in 1998, in New York, New York, United States.

The platform utilizes a cloud storage system which offers unlimited music storage, free unlimited storage of photos and videos, as well as over eighty thousand audiobook titles, and is operable across all devices. Some of the technology the platform uses includes file adaptation technology to fit formats, context-aware messaging, instantaneous data synchronization, capabilities to compensate for network connectivity gaps, IoT data processing, and enterprise encryption and decryption security.
