The 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron (60 LRS) has a national Defense-related mission need to increase the efficiency and optimization of refueling operations in line with AF Science and Technology Strategy 2030’s objective to enhance Rapid, Effective Decision-Making. Roberto Guerrero, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Operational Energy emphasizes the importance of creating an energy optimized Air Force that maximizes combat capability for the warfighter, “We have to start thinking about how inefficient our processes are...we need to start thinking about how we compete with peer competitors”. The 6th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill AFB reiterates this defense mission need and has provided a Letter of Support for this project, attached in Volume 5 of this proposal. 60 LRS is responsible for managing Air Mobility Command’s largest fleet with an assigned mission for strategic airlift and worldwide aerial refueling missions.
