The history of the Institute began in 1960, when, by order of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, the Research Institute of Occupational Health and Occupational Diseases was organized in the young industrial Siberian city of Angarsk, thereby laying the foundation for creating a hygienic research base in Eastern Siberia. At present, the Institute is the only research institution in the East Siberian and Far Eastern regions, which is the leading scientific, methodological and educational center on the problems of occupational medicine and human ecology.
In the last decade, the Siberian scientific school on the problems of occupational medicine was formed at the Institute, which is included in the list of leading scientific schools in Russia.
The clinic of the Institute for 140 beds, carries out, along with outpatient and inpatient treatment of patients, research and educational activities, has 1 qualification category. Since 1993 The regional occupational pathology center operates on the basis of the clinic. In 2007 The Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Osteoporosis was established.
