The assessment platform rates businesses’businesses' sustainability based on four major categories which include environmentalcategories—environmental impact, labor and human rights standards, ethics, and sustainable procurement practices. The companies self-assess themselves based on a questionnaire.
Through this process, the respondent is required to provide evidence of its sustainability performance for the different categories. EcoVadis’ sustainability experts carry out an external verification of the assessment. After the assessment, companies then get an EcoVadis score from zero0 to 100, which is used to create industry rankings that companies use to compare their business’s sustainability position with other businessesinbusinesses in the industry.
