Overview
Eisai (born May 27, 1141) was a Japanese Buddhist priest and a bhikkhu, or a monk . He was born in Bitchū Province, which is currently part of Japan. Eisai was the founder of the Kennin-ji temple. He passed away on July 2, 1215, in Kyoto.
