Eka Ventures (also known as Eka VC) is a London-based venture capital firm that focuses on investing in consumer technology companies with sustainable consumption services, products, and practices. It has invested in industries such as healthcare, environmental services, and logistics.
The company follows three consumer-related trends to dictate its investments, the first of which is sustainability. Eka Ventures invests in companies that are developing sustainable consumer products, such fresh meal kit provider Gousto. Another trend in which it invests is consumer healthcare, working with companies that are attempting to shift society from a treatment-driven healthcare system to a preventative one. The last trend in which Eka Ventures invests is inclusivity. Urban Jungle is a company that has received funding from the firm and is considered to follow the trend of inclusivity because it is an insurance company that serves a segment of the population that has historically been underserved.
Eka Ventures also uses what cofounder Jon Coker calls the Impact Management Project Framework for its investment strategy. This framework attempts to make an industry standard when estimating how much of an impact a portfolio company could make on society. It also allows the venture firm to consider not only the impact of current products and services of a potential portfolio company, but also the impact of future products that could be developed by them.
