Elisha Otis (born on August 3, 1811 as Elisha Graves Otis) was an American technician, industrialist, inventor, engineer, and businessperson. He was born in Halifax, Vermont and was a US citizen. Otis is best known as the founder of the Otis Elevator Company.
Elisha Otis passed away in New York City on April 8, 1861. He is survived by his child, Norton P. Otis. Otis's contribution to the world of engineering and innovation has been recognized, as evidenced by his induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1988.
