Elizabeth Blackburn

Elizabeth Blackburn is an Australian-American biologist, physician, and biochemist, born on November 26, 1948 in Hobart, Australia . She holds citizenship in both Australia and the United States . Blackburn received her education at Darwin College, Cambridge and the University of Cambridge , where she was a doctoral student of Frederick Sanger . One of her own doctoral students is Carol W. Greider . In recognition of her work, she was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine .
