Ella Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996) was an American singer-songwriter, composer, bandleader, and musician. She was born as Ella Jane Fitzgerald in Newport News, Virginia and held United States citizenship. Fitzgerald was also known by the pseudonyms «Первая леди джаза» , Lady Ella, and «Леди Элла» .
Throughout her career, Fitzgerald worked with various genres, including jazz, soul music, traditional pop music, swing music, bebop, and doo-wop. Her contributions to the music industry led her to receive multiple prestigious awards, such as Grammy Awards, Grammy Award for Best Improvised Jazz Solo, Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album, and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ella Fitzgerald was the mother of Ray Brown Jr., a musician and songwriter. She passed away on June 15, 1996, in Beverly Hills, California.
