Erasmus was a writer, philosopher, teacher, and priest born on October 28, 1466, in Rotterdam. He held the citizenship of Seventeen Provinces. Erasmus was educated at several institutions, including the University of Paris, Queens' College, Cambridge, University of Turin, Collège de Montaigu, and the University of Cambridge. During his career, Erasmus held the position of Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity at Cambridge.
Among his notable works was "De civilitate morum puerilium". Erasmus had two known doctoral students: Wolfgang Capito and Jacob Milich. His doctoral advisor was Alexander Hegius von Heek. Erasmus passed away on July 12, 1536, in Basel.
