Moore attended The Wharton School for his Masters of Business Administration for Finance while studying at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time there, Moore participated in a semi-secret society Olympus and spent a month studying in ChinaChina.

Erik Moore founded Base Ventures in 2012 with Kirby Harris. He found the seed stage investment firm from a joy of investing in technology startups and his belief in human potential. Some of Base Ventures successful exits have included Agencour Biosciences, Zappos.com, APG (acquired by Beckman Coulter Genomics), SocialCam (acquired by Autodesk), Appstores (acquired by inMobiinMobi), Grep Data (acquired by 6th Sense Analytics), and RLJ Holdings (IPO in 2011).
As a partner in Base Ventures investments, Moore has been a Member of the Board of Directors of Wildfang.com, from December 2013 to November 2016; PigeonlyPigeonly, since July 2014; and Surf Air, since October 2013. He has also acted as the Board Observer for Surf Air since November 2016.
