Ernest Thompson Seton (born Ernest Evan Thompson) was a Canadian-American writer, screenwriter, and founder of the Boy Scouts of America. Seton was born on August 14, 1860, in South Shields and held citizenship in both the United States and Canada. He studied at the Académie Julian. Ernest was also known by the alias Ernest Seton Thompson.
Seton's career involved writing and screenwriting, but he is perhaps best known for his role in founding the Boy Scouts of America. He passed away on October 23, 1946, in Seton Village.
