Esken Renewables is a supplier of biomass renewable energy fuel in the United Kingdom. The company sources and supplies fuel to renewable energy plants under a mix of short- and long-term contracts. In 2022, Esken Renewables changed its name from Stobart Energy.
The name change came after Stobart Group, the parent company of Stobart Energy, which also owned the "Eddie Stobart" and "Stobart" trademarks, sold back the Stobart brands to Eddie Stobart Logistics for £10 million in 2020.
At its sites, Esken Renewables is capable of storing about 100,000 tonnes of unprocessed waste wood. The company processes over 10% of the UK’s annual waste wood and gets a Gate Fee. They also procure an extra 15% of the UK’s annual waste wood from third-party processors. Esken Renewables supplies about 1.7 million tonnes of fuel to biomass plants in the UK. The fuel is utilized in the generation of renewable energy, which is equivalent to the yearly domestic electricity needs of 2% of the country's population.
