Eutelsat America Corporation is headquartered in Washington D.C. and is a subsidiary of Eutelsat SA, headquartered in Paris, France. Eutelsat America Corp. ("EAC") operated independently as a US company, providing commercial satellite communication solutions to the US government. David Blair acts as CEO and President of the company.
The American company was incorporated in 2006, with 8 satellites currently covering the region. The Paris-based parent company, Eutelsat, acquired Mexico-based Satmex (Satélites Mexicanos) on May 21, 2014, with ESA taking over the three satellites' operation formerly used by Satmex. The satellites taken over include EUTELSAT 115 West A, EUTELSAT 113 West A, and EUTELSAT 117 West A, with plans for EUTELSAT 115 West B and EUTELSAT 117 West B in the future.
Eutelsat SA (and, by extension, Eutelsat America Corp.) reached an agreement with Intelsat on July 30, 2020, to allow both companies to sell the new capacity of its upcoming satellite QUANTUM. QUANTUM will operate on the 48°East position starting in 2021.
