Face++

Face++, also known as MEGVII, is a company creating and operating a facial detection, recognition, and analysis platform for websites, mobile applications, and smart televisions. Face++ (MEGVII), located in Beijing, China, was founded in 2011 as an artificial intelligence and deep learning technology company launching it's original AI, Face++ in 2012. Face++ was the first facial recognition platform introduced to the Chinese internet.

Face++ garnered global attention as it was utilized by governments and law enforcement to locate criminals, but posed an additional concern, as it could also easily be employed to monitor and surveil law-abiding citizens. The platform is capable of detecting and mapping 106 different data points located on an individual's face, allowing detection and confirmation of one's identity to occur with high rates of accuracy.

Face++ has an open platform interface that allows any application developer to access and utilize their algorithms, making Face++ the largest facial recognition platform world-wide. 300,000+ developers, in over 150 countries, have applied this technology to their applications, allowing the AI to become smarter and more efficient organically over time.
