The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is a public educational institution located in New York City, United States. Founded in 1944, FIT is a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and focuses on art, arts education, and fine arts schools. The institute is also involved in higher education, university-related programs, and community college services.
FIT is accredited by several organizations, including the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and Council for Interior Design Accreditation. The institute is also affiliated with the National Junior College Athletic Association and the National Athletic Association.
