Ferdinand I of Aragon , also known as Ferdinand of Antequera or the Just , was born on November 27, 1380, in Medina del Campo . He held Spanish nationality and was a citizen of the Crown of Castile . Ferdinand I served as Regent of Castile from 1406 to 1416 and held multiple titles, including King of Aragon , Valencia , Majorca , Sardinia , and Sicily . In addition, he was a nominal king of Corsica and the Duke of Athens and Neopatria . Ferdinand I also acted as Count of Barcelona , Roussillon , and Cerdanya .
Ferdinand I was the son of John I of Castile and Eleanor of Aragon, Queen of Castile . He had several children, including Eleanor of Aragon, Queen of Portugal , Alfonso V of Aragon , Maria of Aragon, Queen of Castile , Peter of Aragon, Count of Alburquerque , Henry, Duke of Villena , Sancho of Aragon, Archbishop of Toledo , and John II of Aragon and Navarre .
Ferdinand I passed away on April 2, 1416, in Igualada .
