Fidelity Ventures was a Boston, Massachusetts based venture capital arm of Fidelity Investments. Their investments came at all maturity stages of a company and were sector agnostic. In their investments, Fidelity Ventures sought to help their portfolio companies grow with their resources and relationship with parent company Fidelity Investments.
In 2009, part of the Fidelity Ventures team split and started Volition Capital, a private growth equity firm. They continued to manage a portfolio of 20 existing companies developed with these principals while at Fidelity Ventures. Fidelity did not have an ownership position in Volition Capital.
In 2015, Fidelity Investments decided to merge their disparate venture capital firms, including Fidelity Ventures, Fidelity Growth Partners Europe, Fidelity Growth Partners Asia and Moonray Investor into 8 Road Ventures.
Fidelity Ventures made investments in Lime, TokenSoft, RedHill Biopharma, iPipeline, Seatwave, RedBrick Health, BridgeCo, Teliris, BlackDuck, Vibes, Stylesight, Sphere Medical and Tertraphase Pharmaceuticals.
They exited investments in Alibaba Group, Ping Identity, BlackDuck, iPipeline, RedBrick Health, Xoom, RedHill Biopharma, EnterpriseDB, Corero Network Security and Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals.
