Fisk University is a private institution located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1866, it is a part of the Council of Independent Colleges, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The institution's motto is "Her sons and daughters are ever on the altar".
Fisk University operates within the education, higher education, and university industries and is also considered a historically black college and university. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, National Association of Schools of Music, and Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
The Fisk University Carnegie Library is a subsidiary of the university.
