Francis Egerton, 1st Earl of Ellesmere

Francis Egerton, 1st Earl of Ellesmere (1800-1857), was a British statesman, author, poet, and politician. He was born on January 1, 1800, in London, England. Egerton held citizenship in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Great Britain.

He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. Egerton's father was George Leveson-Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland, and his mother was Elizabeth Leveson-Gower, Duchess of Sutherland.

Francis Egerton had five children: Lady Alice Egerton, George Egerton, 2nd Earl of Ellesmere, Francis Egerton (Royal Navy officer), Algernon Egerton, and Granville George Algernon Egerton.

He died on February 18, 1857, in London.
