Fred T. Jane

Fred T. Jane (born August 6, 1865) was a journalist, historian, and illustrator from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. He specialized in maritime and naval affairs and was educated at Exeter School. Born in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Jane went on to have a significant impact on the documentation of naval information.

He is most well-known for founding Jane's Information Group and Janes, organizations that continue to provide comprehensive and trusted military, defense, and aerospace information.

Fred T. Jane passed away on March 8, 1916, in Southsea. His influence in the world of maritime documentation and illustration will undoubtedly continue to be felt for many years to come.
