Frederick II, Elector of Saxony (born August 22, 1412 in Leipzig, died September 7, 1464 in Leipzig), was a German politician and king. He is known for his role as Elector of Saxony and was Landgrave of Thuringia (1440–1445). Frederick was a member of the aristocracy class in Germany.
He was the son of Catherine of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Frederick I, Elector of Saxony. Frederick II had multiple children, including Anna of Saxony, Ernest, Elector of Saxony, Amalia of Saxony, Duchess of Bavaria, Albert III, Duke of Saxony, Anna of Saxony, Electress of Brandenburg, Hedwig, Abbess of Quedlinburg, and Hedwig of Saxony. He was the father of Anna of Saxony, Ernest, Elector of Saxony, Albert III, Duke of Saxony, Amalia of Saxony, Duchess of Bavaria, and Hedwig of Saxony.
