Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg, was born on February 16, 1620, at Stadtschloss. He was a member of the aristocracy and held the occupations of Elector and Duke. Frederick William was also known as the Duke of Prussia. He was a national of Germany. He was the child of George William, Elector of Brandenburg, and Elisabeth of the Palatinate.
Frederick William had several children, including Marie Amalie of Brandenburg, Philip William, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Charles, Electoral Prince of Brandenburg, Frederick I of Prussia, Henrietta Maria of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia, Sophie Elisabeth of Brandenburg, and Charles Philip of Brandenburg-Schwedt.
Frederick William passed away on April 29, 1688, at City Palace in Potsdam. He is credited as the founder of the Berliner Börse.
