Freight forwarders can use single or multiple carriers through air, sea, rail, or highway to ships goods to their final destinations. Companies operating as freight forwarders use expert level logistics to ensure their services and the goods they are shipping arrive when and where their need to be.
Freight forwarders need to take into consideration all tariffs, customs regulations, and legal regulations set by each country they are operating in. Information technology plays a large roll in the efficiency of freight forwarders because it helps them coordinate their operations nationally and internationally, manage risks, and ensure legal compliance. Freight forwarders work directly with customs brokerage firms for the legal importation and exportation of goods in ways which attempt to produce acceptable shipping experiences for their customers.
