Abstract

In this Phase I effort, tOSC will provide an innovative conceptual design for a tactical beam control system (BCS) that will be optimized according to the preferred conditions of (1) Low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP), (2) Precision Pointing and Line of Sight Stabilization, (3) High Bandwidth Tracking, (4) Accommodation of a High Energy Laser (HEL), and (5) Compatibility with Adaptive Optics (AO), in that order. Modeling, simulation, and analysis will be performed which shows that this BCS can operate and optimally perform in an aero-dynamic flight environment that includes aircraft base motion, aero-mechanical vibration, and higher-order wavefront aberrations associated with atmospheric turbulence, and that it will provide optimal energy density from the HEL to the target. tOSC is an internationally recognized small business that is known for its expertise in understanding and ameliorating atmospheric turbulence, propagation of laser beams, adaptive optics, tracking, and innovative self-calibrating optical designs which maintain their calibration during operation. We are also known for our custom, powerful, comprehensive, sophisticated, and extensive optical modeling and simulation tools, as well as for our unique blend of high-speed low-latency real-time firmware and rich diagnostic and control software specifically designed for advanced high-bandwidth tracking and adaptive optics systems.
