GIMP, officially named the GNU Image Manipulation Program, was founded on July 29, 1995, by creators Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis. This software operates under the industries of animation, software development, open-source software, user interface design, technology, design, and web design.
The software is licensed under both the GNU General Public License, version 3.0, and the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3.0. GIMP also gets its name from the GNU Project.
GIMP has a wide range of platforms, including Microsoft Windows. The first publicized version of the software surfaced on November 21, 1995.
