Galina Vishnevskaya

Galina Vishnevskaya was born as Galina Pavlovna Ivanova on October 25, 1926 in Saint Petersburg, Soviet Union . She was a Soviet and Russian artist, singer, opera singer, teacher, music teacher, writer, actor, theatre director, and philanthropist . Vishnevskaya was educated at the Moscow Conservatory .

Throughout her career, she worked in opera and classical music and was married to Mstislav Rostropovich . They had a daughter named Elena Rostropovich . Galina Vishnevskaya passed away in Moscow on December 11, 2012 .

Vishnevskaya received numerous awards, including People's Artist of the Russian Federation , Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" in various classes , Honored Artist of the RSFSR , Order of Lenin , Medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" , Medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow" , Gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation , and Order of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga .
