Garden Gourmet is a Nestle brand of vegetarian food products based out of Israel, and sold primarily in the United Kingdom. The company was founded in Israel in 1986 and received growth investments from Nestle early in its company history before Nestle acquired the company in 2017.
According to Garden Gourmet, their products are targeted to people adopting a "Flexitarian" lifestyle — a lifestyle which involves eating more plant-based proteins and less meat products. Garden Gourmet makes products targeting "Flexitarians" by creating plant-based meat alternatives that do not sacrifice the taste and texture of traditional animal products.
On April 16, 2019 Nestle announced the company will be pulling its Garden Gourmet products out of retailers in the United Kingdom. The managing director of Nestle in the United Kingdom made the following public statement regarding the brands withdrawals from retail stores across the UK:
We believe that a more plant-based diet is the future and one of our strategic priorities is to expand our vegetarian and flexitarian choices. Garden Gourmet products are still part of our UK and Irish out-of-home offering through our Nestle Professional business while, in retail, we are now exploring our options in the plant-based market following the initial trial of Garden Gourmet in UK Supermarkets.
Garden Gourmet products are free of artificial flavors and preservatives. Their vegetarian products fall under four categories: Daily Favorites, Veggie Creations, Chef's Ingredients, and Mezze Selections.
