Gena Rowlands, born Virginia Cathryn Rowlands on June 19, 1930, is an actor from the United States. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Lady Rowlands and Edwin Myrwyn Rowlands. Gena has three children: Nick Cassavetes, Alexandra Cassavetes, and Zoe Cassavetes.
Rowlands received her education from Washington-Lee High School, University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Throughout her career, she has been known for her notable works such as "A Woman Under the Influence", "Opening Night", "The Notebook", and "Playing by Heart".
Gena Rowlands has received numerous awards, including the Berlin International Film Festival, Primetime Emmy Award, AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, and Golden Globe Awards among others.
