George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (born 17 February 1582 in Celle; died 12 April 1641 in Hildesheim), was a German nobleman who served as the Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Prince of Lüneburg from 1559 until his death. He was educated at the University of Jena and held the occupations of politician, duke, and military personnel.
George was the child of William the Younger, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Dorothea of Denmark, Electress Palatine. George founded the city of Hanover and had several children, including Sophie Amalie of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Christian Louis, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, George William, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, John Frederick, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Sophie of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover.
Until 1569, George ruled Brunswick-Lüneburg together with his brother, Henry of Dannenberg.
