George, Duke of Saxony (1471-1539), was a politician and duke from Germany. He was the child of Albert III, Duke of Saxony and Sidonie of Poděbrady. George was born in Meissen on August 27, 1471, and he died in Dresden on April 17, 1539.
George was known for serving as Duke of Saxony, and his opposition to the Reformation has become an alias for him. He was educated at Leipzig University.
He had several children, including John of Saxony, Frederick, Hereditary Prince of Saxony, Christine of Saxony, Magdalena of Saxony, and John, Hereditary Prince of Saxony. George was the father of John, Frederick, and Christine.
