George Lucas is an American writer, director, and producer, best known as the creator of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. He was born on May 14, 1944, in Modesto, California , and is a United States citizen .
Lucas studied at the University of Southern California and the USC School of Cinematic Arts . He also attended Downey High School .
Throughout his career, Lucas has been known for working in various capacities in the film industry, including as a writer, executive producer, cinematographer, screenwriter, businessperson, film producer, actor, film director, and film editor . He has directed films such as Star Wars , Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace , and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith , and also created Indiana Jones and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles .
Some of his most notable works include Star Wars , THX 1138 , and American Graffiti . He mainly works in the genre of speculative fiction film .
Lucas is also the founder of Skywalker Sound and has two children, Amanda Lucas , a professional fighter, and Katie Lucas . Lucas currently resides in California .
