George S. Kaufman (16 11 1889 - 2 6 1961) was a versatile and accomplished individual hailing from Pittsburgh and held American citizenship. He was primarily known for his work as a theatre director, screenwriter, journalist, playwright, and writer but was also involved in film production, acting, and film direction.
Kaufman received his education at the University of Paris and Harvard University. One of his notable works, 'Of Thee I Sing', gained widespread recognition. In addition to his creative pursuits, Kaufman owned the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway.
His life came to an end in New York City in 1961, leaving behind a rich legacy in diverse fields of theatre, film, and writing.
