Gerd Faltings

Gerd Faltings is a German mathematician born on July 28, 1954, in Gelsenkirchen. He studied at the University of Münster where he received his education. Germany is his country of citizenship.

Faltings has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Fields Medal in 1986. He has been a doctoral advisor to a number of students, such as Hans-Joachim Nastold, Robert Friedrich Wilms, Nikolai Durov, Michael J. Larsen, Shinichi Mochizuki, and Wiesława Nizioł.
