Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680) was an Italian artist known for his work as an architect, designer, and painter. He was also involved in creating various genres of art, including Christian art, caricature, portrait, landscape painting, and nude art. The son of artist Pietro Bernini, Gian Lorenzo was a creator of Baroque sculpture.
Some of his most notable works include St. Peter's Square, Sant'Andrea al Quirinale, Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, Palazzo Barberini, Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, and Bust of Costanza Bonarelli. Gian Lorenzo Bernini's father, Pietro Bernini, was a prominent artist during his time, and his son, Domenico Bernini, also followed in his footsteps.
