GigSky is a provider of global mobile data connectivity service intended for eSIM based IoT applications. The company's connectivity service currently power eSIM based Apple and Microsoft devices with mobile data connectivity and provides cloud-based management tools and applications.
GigSky offers users mobile connectivity for data use without a SIM card and a service that is not location dependent. This includes mobile data access for IoT, third party devices, and wearable devices.
Through their mobile app for iOS devices, users can sign up for mobile cellular data, without need for a SIM card. They offer different plans and pricing dependent on the geographic area a user expects to need the data for. The prices range from USD $9.99 to USD $59.99. Their iOS based plans include a cellular only plan which does not include the use of cellular data.
Available to Android OS users, through a mobile application, same as the iOS application, GigSky for Android offers the same or similar experience and offers, including pricing, to the iOS offer.
Similar to GigSky for iOS, GigSky for iPadOS offers cellular connectivity for iPad users depending on whether they are travelling or not, with plans offering travel-specific plans and non-travel plans. The use of GigSky for iPadOS is dependent on the model of iPad, with supported models including:
- 11-inch iPad Pro
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd Gen.)
- iPad Air (3rd Gen.)
- iPad (7th Gen.)
- iPad mini (5th Gen.)
For LTE connected Window's devices, users can download the Window's application, select their plan based on their need, and be connected. This allows Windows devices to use data in zones without WiFi or other connectivity solutions. Through the applications, Windows users can add more data to their plan as they need. Pricing for the GigSky for Windows plans fall in the same range as the GigSky for iOS plans.
GigSky for Business offers global SIM deployments for businesses connectivity needs. This includes a managed network capable of connecting 2G, 3G and 4G LTE devices for support of multiple types and generations of cellular technology and devices. The managed network connectivity offers users a dashboard to manage the network, including network speed and connection stability. The product also uses GigSky's Multi-IMSI technology which uses on-demand remote SIM switching of network credentials to offer businesses international connectivity with limited downtime. This system is capable of being used in 200 countries or regions.
GigSky for Business also offers administrators granular control over GigSky SIMs through the enterprise manager. This allows administrators the capability of adding, enabling, and disabling SIMS, as well as managing SIM cost, data usage cost, and alerts and notifications for data usage.
The GigSky for Business network is capable of support virtual private networks, virtual APN services, and URL filtering to help control network usage.
GigSky's IoT platform offers services to help users build SIM or eSIM enabled products for remote management, customizable applications, and cellular network access. The GigSky IoT works on GigSky's wireless connectivity platform which offers 3G, 4G LTE, LTEM, and NB-IoT coverage in over 200 platforms. Through GigSky's IoT platform, users are also able to bootstrap their devices to connect to cellular networks and allows users to manage connectivity through a web-based portal to offer users control of cost management, and alerts or notifications for data usage.
Through GigSky's IoT platform, users are offered chip and module partnerships to support product designs with either removable or solderable SIM module form factors, including 1FF, 2FF, 3FF, 4FF, WLCSP, and MFF2. This platform is intended to help users develop IoT products, and includes eSIM firmware integrations to eliminate the need for eUICC hardware and offers support for industry standards efforst related to iUICC, iSSP, and iSIM.
GigSky's IoT platform also offers SIM and eSIM management tools. These include:
- GSMA SGP.02 and SGP.22 specification support for M2M and consumer devices
- Multiple connectivity partners per region
- SIM and eSIM management portal with API to control data access
- Network-based routing and filtering for VPNs and whitelisting and blacklisting capabilities
Founded in 2010 by Ravi Rishy-Maharaj to provide access to public data networks to international travelers. In 2013, Norwegian Air Lines adopted GigSky's service to support their electronic flight bag product to help flight crews perform their necessary operations. In 2016, Avionica partnered with GigSky to offer global flight data transmission services for airlines.
In 2015, Apple began offering access to the GigSky service on cellular enabled iPads with Apple SIM. In 2018, GigSky began offering international data eSIMS for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR phones.
