Great Firewall

The Golden Shield Project, also referred to as the "great firewall of China,", is a project managed by the Ministry of Public Security division of the Chinese government. As its nickname implies, the objective of the project is to monitor and censor what the Citizens of China can and cannot see, via an online network.

In 1998, the ruling party, Chinese Communist Party (CCP), officially launched the GFW project.
