BioVentures is a venture capital and private equity firm investing in all stages of life science companies that is headquartered in Miami, Florida and was founded in 2011 by Sami Mnaymneh and Tony Tamer. H.I.G. BioVentures is a subsidiary of H.I.G. Capital. The firm specializes in big pharma, small biotech, medical devices, diagnostics, basic science, clinical research, and technology transfer. On April 11, 2012 H.I.G. BioVentures closed their second venture capital fund with $268 million in funding. The firm will use their second fund to invest in pharmaceutical, medical devices, and diagnostic companies operating in North America.
