American philosopher
Hans Reichenbach (born September 26, 1891, in Hamburg and died April 9, 1953, in Los Angeles) was a philosopher and physicist. He is best known for his work in philosophy of science, having studied at Stuttgart Technology University of Applied Sciences and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Reichenbach held citizenship in both Germany and the United States, and his doctoral advisor was Max Noether.
Throughout his academic career, Reichenbach mentored a number of notable doctoral students, including Hilary Putnam, Carl Gustav Hempel, Wesley C. Salmon, Melvin Earl Maron, and Norman Martin.
