Hazy (formerly Anon AI) is a developer of a SaaS-based data anonymization platform designed to share data securely across the Web or multiple devices. The company's platform combines artificial intelligence to share data securely and automatically and anonymizes personal information to identify and intelligently replace personally identifiable information in evolving datasets, enabling data-centric businesses to share valuable data while protecting privacy of personal information at the same time.
Hazy is a UCL AI spin out backed by Microsoft and Nationwide. Their core product is synthetic data - data generated artificially using machine learning techniques, that retains the statistical properties of the real data and can be safely used for analytics and innovation without compromising customers privacy and confidential information. They do it by capturing patterns in the raw data to generate completely synthetic 'hazy' data that maintains the statistical value of the original. This means businesses can unlock their data for innovation with safer and faster data provisioning on demand and no compliance, security or privacy risks and procurement delays.
Hazy was founded in 2017 by Harry Keen, James Arthur and Dr Luke Robinson. They were incubated by Post Urban Ventures and CyLon in the same year. In 2018, Hazy won the $1 million Microsoft Innovate AI prize for best AI startup in Europe. In 2019, Hazy won the Grand Prix at the Société Générale Banking CyberSecurity Innovation Awards and the CogX Award for Best Innovation in Data Protection and Privacy.
