Headset's process begins at the retail and dispensary level. Data is collected from participating retailers’ POS systems. The company is used by about two thousand retailers in thirty markets. The data is aggregated, anonymized and normalized (mapped to a product in our database) to offer a standard view of the market. Headset also combines their data with information from government agencies, including publicly traded company reporting. Machine learning algorithms assist in normalizing the disparate product data found in the retailer data and automating the process. The data entry and product catalog professionals enter products and associate metadata with those products into product traits. The compiled retailer data is cleansed to minimize skew. Inferential statistics methods are also applied to the sample. Headset validates product manufacturers against their sell-in data. From the sample, projections are developed and utilized by Headset’s software solutions.
