Heisuke Hironaka

Heisuke Hironaka is a Japanese mathematician born on September 4, 1931, in Iwakuni, Japan . He is also known by the alias ひろなか へいすけ . Hironaka completed his education at Kyoto University and later at Harvard University . He was a doctoral student under the supervision of Oscar Zariski .

Hironaka has had several doctoral students, including Dave Bayer, William Haboush, Bernard Teissier, Jacob E. Goodman, Allen Tannenbaum, Mary Schaps, and Andrew Schwartz . In recognition of his work, Heisuke Hironaka received the Fields Medal in 1970 .
