Hideaki Anno, born on May 22, 1960, is a Japanese film director, animator, actor, screenwriter, film producer, and lyricist. He was born in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan and holds Japanese citizenship. Anno was educated at the Osaka University of Arts.
Hideaki Anno is known for creating and directing the popular anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is also one of his notable works. Other notable works by Anno include Gunbuster, Rebuild of Evangelion, and Shin Godzilla. Anno directed various films in the Evangelion series, such as Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, as well as The End of Evangelion. He has also directed films like Maison Ikkoku: Kanketsu-hen.
