Horodok, a modern Ukrainian city located above the river Vereshchytsia, a left tributary of the Dniester, 25 km from the regional and district center of Lviv.
The town was first mentioned in the Galician-Volyn chronicle in 1213. The chronicle says that the city is known far to the east as a center of salt trade, and therefore was called "Salt Town" or "Salt Town". In the scientific literature, the city is sometimes called "Halytsky Town", or "Town near Lviv".
Historically also known as Gródek.
Today the city is the center of the Horodok city united territorial community of Lviv district of Lviv region.
